My name is Paul and after serving 8 years in Federal Prison as a first-time offender from 2011 to 2018, I want to share my story with you and what I learned. I was a co-owner of a very successful financial services company in Austin, TX. I had a beautiful and supportive wife, a son who shared my passion for sports and Star Wars and a joyful baby girl whom I call my lovely. We had our house built and were living the American dream playing with our children, a cute Labrador named Fluppy, grilling in our backyard and watching the Texas Longhorns beat OU. You might say I had it all. This American dream turned into a nightmare one morning at 6 am when Federal Agents executed a search warrant at our home. Fourteen months later, immediately upon being sentenced to 120 months in federal prison, I was taken into custody by US Marshalls. My life and that of my loved ones would never be the same!
While serving out my sentence at FCI Marianna and FCI Seagoville I worked as a reentry resource clerk. As I prepared fellow offenders for reentry, I witnessed first-hand the large and growing need for personal prison consulting. You see, prison is like cancer or death. Its only addressed when it happens to you or a loved one. And just as with cancer or death I never believed it could happen to me. We see movies and television shows that depict prison life. They tend to focus on the very real threats of violence and rape. However, in my personal experience, the most challenging part about prison is dealing with the emotional, psychological and financial issues offenders and their loved ones will experience. There is no escaping them!
I called prison the school of faith. It was in the school of faith where I developed my passion to want to educate offenders and their loved ones about the pre and post incarceration experience. I wish my family and I had them prior to my incarceration. Did you know the fathers, mothers, wives and children of offenders feel like they are being punished? I invite you to please call and schedule a consultation to address the many personal and specific questions you have about the pre and post incarceration process. There are no fees for our services.
Our goal is to reduce recidivism rates by preparing individuals and their families for both incarceration and reentry. We empower people with the knowledge they need to survive and thrive during one of life’s most challenging experiences.
We are committed to providing honest, real-world education on what individuals can expect inside the prison system, both physically and psychologically. We also help families understand how to support their loved ones while they are incarcerated and how to manage the emotional and financial stresses of the process.
The U.S. has one of the highest recidivism rates in the world, with over 70% of released prisoners being rearrested within five years. Proper preparation and support, both before entering prison and during reentry, can dramatically lower these numbers. Our program aims to address this gap by providing individuals with the guidance they need to break this cycle.
American Prison Preparation is a section 501 (c)(3) nonprofit registered with the IRS. We do not charge any fees for our services.
